Located just off Washington Park in Sunnyvale, this early-20th-century bungalow was updated to support multi-generational living while preserving its original charm. The remodel prioritized flow and access, improving the kitchen and bath layouts while restoring original architectural elements throughout the home. Windows were expanded to bring in more daylight, and subtle material shifts helped separate public and private zones without using walls. A new rear deck expands the home's usable space, connecting indoor life with the tree-shaded backyard.

The project also included conceptual planning for a detached ADU, designed to fit the scale and context of the lot. A physical model was created to study massing, setbacks, and spatial relationships — ensuring the proposed addition would complement the main home without overpowering it. The result is a home that feels anchored to its past but open to its future, offering flexibility, serenity, and a quiet dialogue with the neighborhood’s architectural fabric.
